She was the first Empress to be crowned in Iran since the Arab invasion in the 7th century. The two Sassanian Empresses, Purandokht and Azarmidokht, c. 630, were the last two that carried the title before Farah Diba.

I sent an LOR to the address in the database for the former Empress of Iran, Farah Pahlavi on 13/11/12 and yesterday I received a signed and personalised 8x10 photo. for some reason the letter appears to have come from France, but the return address and the address I sent to are in New York. Odd...

Farah Pahlavi is the former Queen and Empress of Iran. She is the widow of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran, and only Empress (Shahbanu) of modern Iran. She was Queen consort of Iran from 1959 until 1967 and Empress consort from 1967 until exile in 1979.
